How to defeat facial recognition technology?

Let's face it, the world's governments and police forces (or at least parts of it) are going to adopt and use this technology. How can we defeat it? The obvious and best answer is with legislation designed to shut this stuff down. Is there a way to defeat it using wearable technology? The only thing I've seen is some ridiculous looking face paint.
