Bank details obtained from iPhone?

Hi, I don’t know if this is the right group to post to, so please advise if I’m better asking elsewhere. My in laws have been receiving random phone calls from my husband’s phone number for a few weeks now that he isn’t making. It happens to both his mum and dad at random times and if they answer there is nobody there. I’m also one of his frequently dialled numbers but I’ve never received one of these phone calls nor has anyone else. We are in the UK and his parents live abroad.

Today, it’s come to light that someone has tried to make an online purchase with his mum’s details to a UK company which the bank blocked. Then they’ve tried to make a purchase with his dad’s details for the same amount (a lot of money) and succeeded. My husband reckons he probably has discussed bank details with them over the phone as he tends to book travel and things on their behalf.

Could these two things be related and do we need to worry about the security of his phone? (iPhone)
